Apple and Puff Pastry Rings : so easy to make…

Apple and puff pastry Rings are treats that have been all the rage around the web lately. I wanted to try making them myself, and I must say that they are really yummy and very easy to prepare. A crispy puff pastry shell enclosing a soft and juicy slice of apple, flavored with sugar and cinnamon… try them!

Ingredients for Apple and Puff Pastry Rings:

  • 2 Golden Delicious apples
  • 1 sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry (rectangular)
  • Milk, as needed
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon, to taste

How to prepare Apple and Puff Pastry Rings:

First, we wash and dry the apples well. I used them with the peel on, but you can also peel them if you prefer.

  1. We cut the apples into slices about 1 centimeter thick, discarding the two bases (which are not to be thrown away but we can eat them this way as a snack!).
  2. From each slice we need to remove the core, we can use a small pastry cup, or something else round, such as a nozzle of a sac a poche.
  3. We then take the puff pastry, unroll it and cut it into strips, less than 1 cm thick.
  4. With these strips we are going to wrap our apple slice.5 – Eventually they will be completely covered by the puff pastry. We take the doughnuts and go to put them on a baking sheet.
  5. We mash them with milk, or we can use a beaten egg.
  6. Then we flavor them with sugar and cinnamon.
  7. We bake them in a hot oven at 180 degrees static for about 20-30 minutes. They need to brown. Once cooked we can eat them warm or cold.
