Double chocolate chip cookies are yummy cookies of American origin, made with dark chocolate and enriched with milk chocolate chips, delicious snacks perfect to enjoy any time of the day.
Ingredients:
15 cookies, each about 8-9 cm (3-3.5 inches) in diameter
- 230g (8 oz) dark chocolate
- 200g (7 oz) milk chocolate
- 120g (1/2 cup / 1 stick) unsalted butter
- 140g (1 cup) plain flour/ all-purpose flour
- 5g (1 teaspoon) baking powder
- 1 pinch of coarse salt
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 150g (3/4 cup) caster sugar/ granulated sugar
- 1 vanilla pod/bean
How to make Double Chocolate Chip Cookies:
- Melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie or microwave and let it cool. Meanwhile, cut the butter into cubes and let it soften to room temperature then add the sugar and seeds of the vanilla bean and beat with a beater until light and creamy; still beating, add the eggs one at a time.
- Finally add the salt and the now-warm melted chocolate. At this point add the previously sifted flour and baking powder and lastly the milk chocolate reduced to small cubes. Mix all the ingredients together and then arrange the mixture in spoonfuls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- On a regular baking sheet you can place up to six spoonfuls of mixture well spaced out (because as they bake the cookies will expand) and bake in a preheated ventilated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15-20 minutes.
- Remove the cookies with a spatula and place them on a wire rack to cool. Proceed in this way until you run out of dough, with which you should be able to produce about cookies that will be about 8-9 cm in diameter when baked.
