Homemade Hot Chocolate: the ONLY recipe you need…
Homemade Hot Chocolate needs no introduction, it is a precious pampering that we indulge in during the cold months of the year; hot chocolate means relaxation, couch and blanket .
If you have always bought it in a bag thinking that it is complicated to make or maybe because you are convinced that you are saving time, you should definitely know that there is nothing easier and I guarantee that it will take you EXACTLY the same amount of time compared to making the bagged one, with the difference that by using quality ingredients, you will have a much more genuine result.
Ingredients:
- 500 ml (2 cups) whole milk
- 40 gr (1/3 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder (good quality, please)
- 30 gr (2 tablespoons) cornflour/cornstarch
- 80 gr (1/3 cup) caster sugar/granulated sugar
How to prepare Homemade Hot Chocolate:
- Prepare all (only 4!) ingredients because you will need them all right away: so weigh the milk, bitter cocoa, cornstarch and sugar.
- In a nonstick saucepan about 18 cm in diameter, pour the cocoa, cornstarch, and sugar and stir well with a hand whisk to remove any lumps and mix the ingredients.
- Finally, add the milk a little at a time, stirring until it is well incorporated.Place the saucepan on the stove, I always use the smallest stove on medium heat. Stir continuously, never leave your station mind you. After about 6-7 minutes the chocolate will start to thicken: lower the heat a little and, while continuing to stir, wait until it reaches the consistency you like best.
- As soon as it reaches the ideal consistency for you, immediately pour your hot chocolate into cups otherwise it will continue to thicken. Your homemade Hot Chocolate, creamy and glossy, is ready to be enjoyed.
