Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp (10g) salt
  • 1 tbsp (12g) baking powder
  • 14 tbsp (200g) butter
  • 3/4 cup (200g) sour cream
  • 14 oz (400g) beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 potato
  • 1/2 tsp (2g) cumin
  • 1/2 tsp (2g) black pepper
  • 1/2 cup (15g) fresh dill
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp (10g) black sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp (10g) white sesame seeds

How to Prepare the Beef-Filled Savoury Pie:

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Grate the butter and add it to the mix. Stir until you have a thick and homogeneous dough.
  3. Cover the dough with cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. After resting, divide the dough into 2 parts.
  5. Using a rolling pin, roll out each piece of dough into a disc shape.
  6. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix sliced white onion with salt, pepper, and cumin. Add diced beef. Mix well until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  7. Place the filling in the centre of one dough disc and use the other disc to cover it, forming a pie. Seal the edges well.
  8. Use a fork to make holes on the surface of the pie.
  9. Brush the surface with beaten egg and sprinkle with white and black sesame seeds.
  10. Place the pie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Bake for 50 minutes at 340°F (170°C).
  12. Once ready, serve with your favourite sauces.
