Almond tart is a simple, mouthwatering dessert that is easy to make. A crispy shell, moist and fragrant filling make this dessert irresistible. My house really likes tarts and I am slowly trying them all. They really liked this one a lot. It is perfect for breakfast, for a snack or if you get a craving for something We just have to get to work and prepare the almond tart together.
Ingredients for Italian Almond Tart:
For the shortcrust pastry:
- 400g (3 1/4 cups) all-purpose flour
- 200g (7/8 cup or 1 3/4 sticks) unsalted butter
- 120g (1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon) granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- Zest of half a lemon
- 1 pinch of salt
For the filling:
- 500g (3 3/4 cups) almonds
- 100g (about 1 cup) amaretti biscuits
- 8 egg whites
- 200g (1 cup) granulated sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon rum
How to make Italian Almond Tart:
- Prepare the shortcrust pastry: in a mixing bowl, place the cubed butter. Add the flour and start working with your fingertips. Add sugar, whole eggs, salt, grated lemon zest and knead until smooth. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling: Finely chop the almonds with the macaroons.
- Whisk egg whites with sugar until stiff.
- Gently incorporate almonds and macaroons with salt and rum.
- Roll out the shortcrust pastry on baking paper.
- Place it on the two baking sheets and prick the base.
- Pour the almond and egg white mixture into the two baking pans.
- Bake, in a preheated static oven, at 180° and bake for 40-45 minutes.
- Then let cool completely.
- Remove from the pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar before bringing to the table.
